As the only RTO in WA specialising in the Creative Industries, Mount Pleasant College (MPC) is a vibrant community of creatives sharing our passion for Music, Sound Production, Media, Photography, Graphic Design, Film, and Game Design & Animation with learners. Our CERT III and IV Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses and qualifications are industry relevant and nationally accredited.
Our focus is to create a supportive environment where learners are valued, positively impacted and equipped for the industry and life. This is achieved by limiting class sizes and exceptional industry active trainers having a real care factor and sharing their industry experience to set learners up for success. Our fantastic facility can easily be reached via public transport and has state of the art equipment, many learning/performance spaces and a café.
Jake is a Learning, Development and Human Resources professional and leader with 27 years corporate and small-business experience, which included managing a large Registered Training Organisation in South Africa. Jake is passionate about the creative arts and to create and maintain a culture in which creative students feel supported to flourish and grow through quality education. With his HR, Business Leadership and Project Management qualifications and experience, Jake enjoys training students in the business side of the arts.

Mia Matthiessen is a vibrant songstress with extensive experience across a multitude of styles and genres. Her vocal prowess, versatility and ‘chameleon’ characteristics have seen her perform in many different bands and venues across the city since graduating from a Bachelor of Music (Honours) in Contemporary Voice at The West Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) in 2017. Mia is the acting Head of Music at Mount Pleasant College. She loves the College’s small class sizes as it gives her the opportunity to invest in individuals and build relationship with her students.

Andrew has been an active part of the design industry for the last decade, working on a variety of projects from short term design projects through to major brand and advertising design in studios across Perth, before starting his own design studio, Red Licorice in the summer of 2015. He currently spends the bulk of his time crafting projects with Red Licorice, developing our college media department as Head of Media & jumping in the classroom to lecture students on the principles of design. Andrew loves seeing students develop their design skills as they prepare for their career in the industry.

With numerous qualifications in Education, Occupational Health & Safety (OHS), Management and Business, Ida seeks to use her many years of experience, knowledge and skills to guide and inspire learners beyond their spheres of influence, drawing out their strengths and talents, creativity and self-confidence to a level that they may not have experienced before. Her approach and philosophy are to encourage, to give hope and to contribute to the progress and growth of people in general. Apart from training in OHS and business-related units, Ida also ensures compliance to the RTO Standards and manages the education relationships with our Auspice partner schools.

Marcus’ work as a designer, documentary filmmaker and photojournalist has taken him all over the world working for NGOs in developing countries. His work in Uganda, Ethiopia and Bangladesh has taught him how to be a one-man film crew and think on your feet as a creative. Outside of the college, Marcus works at a local design studio Media on Mars and brings this industry knowledge into the classroom. Marcus completed a Bachelor of Screen Arts, Creative Advertising and Graphic Design and a Masters of Secondary Education at Curtin University. Marcus teaches with a focus on practical exercises to create industry-ready creatives.
Media & Design Trainer
Cameron has been in the Vocational Education and Training sector for almost a decade now. With an Advance Diploma (Screen & Media) and a Bachelor of Communications with a double major in Creative Services and Film and Video, he has been putting his video production skill to use within the area of education through the creation of online delivery materials. Cameron has been a Media Trainer and Assessor at Mount Pleasant College since 2014. Across all areas Cameron’s goal is to see students produce quality work and build a portfolio that sets them up to continue on their creative career pathway.
Screen & Media Trainer
Colton Onderwater is an independent game developer who has been part of the Perth Game scene for around ten years. He graduated with a Bachelor of Interactive Entertainment (major in Game Design) at SAE and completed a Diploma in Business. Starting in mobile development, Colton went on to make digital art games with Potluck Collective and is now two years into developing a major solo project. Colton is passionate about the local games industry and works with groups like Let’s Make Games, as well as various educational institutes to educate up and coming developers.
Game Design & Animation Trainer
Bernadette graduated in journalism and has worked in the media and broadcasting industry in the Philippines as a talk show host and news writer. She also spent years in in the mining and education industries as information officer and as part of administrative teams. She does not see her current role at MPC as a job, instead she views it as a ministry to serve God with her administrative skills she’s been gifted with. It is her passion and hope to make positive contributions to the students’ lives while they are under MPC’s care.
Academic Administrator
Azariah Felton is a Boorloo (Perth) based composer, sound designer, audio engineer, and musician, specialising in music for theatre, dance, and film, as well as composing concert music. He runs a recording and audio engineering business and works as a freelance mixing engineer and producer. Azariah studied a Bachelor of Music at WAAPA, and then completed a Master’s in Fine Arts at the California Institute of the Arts, supported by a Fulbright Postgraduate scholarship. Azariah teaches recording, mixing, sound production, and composition at the College, and helps students to craft their songs from demos into fully produced, release-ready tracks.
Music & Sound Production Trainer
Rein Mali Limanta is an acclaimed Perth based musician and artist with a sophisticated soulful drive. Having finished a Bachelor of Contemporary Music at WAAPA, he has been trained by some of Australia’s finest music educators and in the process developed an understanding in music, technique, professionalism and performance, making him capable and eager to deliver any performance with skill, finesse and artistry. His experience at WAAPA, combined with his 5+ years of being an industry performing musician have allowed him to learn to adapt, evolve and grow into a formidable vocalist, musician and educator. Creativity, authenticity and musicality are at the forefront.
Music Trainer
David is a music producer, musician, and engineer specialising in pop, soul, R&B and hip-hop music. He holds a Bachelor of Music – Composition and Music Production from the Australian Institute of Music. He worked with an NGO for 5 years to equip young creatives with practical skills and a mind of a creative technician. During these years, David also travelled with a band, performing and engineering in more than 20 countries – including iconic places of Europe, stadiums and other performing venues in Asia, large music festivals in New Zealand and many more. David is passionate to educate young creatives to meet their full potential so that they can be empowered to dream big.
