Sound Production Trainer

 

2 day position (0.4 FTE)

 

Mount Pleasant College has a vacancy for a Sound Production Trainer and Assessor. The position is permanent, part-time and will commence from Term 1, 2019.  Mount Pleasant College is an RTO specialising in the delivery of Certificate II, III and IV level courses in the creative arts.  Mount Pleasant College is a ministry of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.

 

The successful applicant will be responsible for developing resources and delivering training for Sound Production students in our Certificate III and IV level courses.

 

Applications for the position should include a covering letter, a current Resume, together with a brief statement about each of the following selection criteria (no more than 2-3 sentences for each point):

  1. Previous experience in the live sound production industry;
  2. Previous experience in the VET training and education sector;
  3. Excellent communication, administration and interpersonal skills;
  4. Good organisational skills and attention to detail;
  5. Available to commence in Term 1, 2019.

Purpose of Position

  • To provide training services to the Sound Production students at Mount Pleasant College (MPC);
  • To assist College students and staff during Professional Performance Practice and recording sessions;
  • To contribute to the ongoing development and review of school curriculum.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Instruct and encourage MPC sound production students;
  • Contribute to the development of VET training programmes at Certificate II, III, and IV level which meet all requirements of the CUA Creative Arts and Culture training package units;
  • Contribute to the development of training and assessment resources required by the College to meet the requirements of the VET regulator;
  • Identify resources for the sound production courses offered at MPC;
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of, and commitment to support, MPC’s purpose, ethos and organisational structure.

 

Essential Tasks

  • Instruct MPC sound production students;
  • Develop training materials to be used when instructing MPC sound production students;
  • Store copies of all documentation produced in the development of the training programmes in the appropriate location(s) on the College server (note: this includes teaching plans, student handouts, module outlines and assessment instruments);
  • Participate in the process of validation and moderation of course materials, including assessment items;
  • Assist with the procurement of equipment once approval has been granted by the Head of College;
  • Complete all administrative tasks relevant to the position of Sound Production Trainer as requested and in accordance with MPC Policies and Procedures.

 

Essential Competencies

The following qualifications – academic, vocational, and behavioural – are considered essential to perform the tasks required of the position:

  • Appropriate tertiary-level qualifications in Sound Production studies;
  • a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment as required by the Standards (2015);
  • Appropriate experience in the Sound Production industry;
  • Hold a current Working With Children Check;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Familiarity with relevant and specific software packages;
  • Patience, maturity, sensitivity and empathy for clients;
  • Able to use initiative and make decisions appropriate to the position;
  • The ability to liaise effectively with external agencies and other MPC staff;
  • An excellent understanding of, and support for, MPC, its mission, ethos and functions.
